A visual flavour for the world’s first Cornish Clotted Cream Gin
CLIENT: THE WRECKING COAST DISTILLERY
Challenge
The Wrecking Coast Distillery is a craft gin brand that has become famous for infusing the flavour of Cornish Clotted Cream into their unique gin. The main challenge was that the brand name was appearing secondary to the product on all communications. The founders approached us with a need to reposition the Wrecking Coast as a premium brand. This was not a simple task because they were already out in the market, building recognition at the time.
Another challenge would be if they were to diversify their product range in the future (which they did) – and the difficulties they'd face due to the lack of brand stand-out on the product. Altering their brand, identity design and positioning too much could loose traction they had previously worked hard to build.
Solution
The new bottle design was created to hero the distillery whilst still allowing the product name and its unique ingredient to shine through. We also aimed to lift the profile of ‘The Wrecking Coast’s Cornish Clotted Cream’ by giving it a cleaner premium feel throughout. We went on to enhance the brand and identity to be flexible enough to grow and evolve as the business scales up.
As an ongoing client we help The Wrecking Coast Distillery prepare for multiple industry events by providing consultancy and creative services including; brand development, product packaging design, event and exhibition stands, supporting print collateral, distributor van livery, partnership assets, advertising creative and social media creative support.
Unrattled are instrumental in shaping our brand and identity as we evolve and expand. They offer a level of strategic thinking and creativity that is well considered and always on point.
RESULTS
The Wrecking Coast distillery has seen huge successes, selling 20,000+ bottles upwards per year and has since broadened the range, introducing a Sloe gin and a Navy Strength Scurvy gin to the range. We’ve even helped them to develop a gin to support fundraising for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Appeal and a tasty gin to help celebrate the launch of a new restaurant for a celebrity chef. Amongst their esteemed retailer’s and stockists, they now sell in Selfridges and have begun exporting their products internationally.
